My inbox cried wolf 10,000 times. I almost missed the real one.

Hey there Reader,

Confession: I currently have over 10,000 unread emails. Ten thousand. Here's how that happened: an automated system in my rescue squad world went haywire and started firing off false notifications. Not one or two. A flood. It took real time to even figure out what was happening, let alone shut it off, and while I was diagnosing the problem, the noise buried the messages that actually mattered.

That's alert fatigue. When everything is flagged urgent, nothing is. You stop trusting the signal, you start scrolling past things you shouldn't, and the truly mission critical stuff sits there disguised as one more false alarm.

Sound familiar? It should. I see this constantly in businesses that don't have alert fatigue in their inbox, they have it in their decision making. When every choice feels urgent and every option gets equal weight, you lose the ability to tell what actually needs your attention right now versus what's just noise wearing a costume.

While I was untangling my inbox, I also got to do two of my favorite things: I ran a workshop with Goochland Chamber's Women In Business series on public speaking even when you're terrified, and I taught a room full of business owners at BizWorks how to lead a business that can actually grow without them chained to it. Both rooms were full of folks who already knew how to filter signal from noise in their own businesses. They just needed permission to trust it.

Cheering you on,
Angela

Bold strategy. Smart systems. More sanity.

PS: If your business has decisions buried under a pile of "urgent" that isn't actually urgent, that's not a you problem. That's a systems problem. Let's fix it.

Quick Tip:

Not every flashing light is a fire. Treating every decision like an emergency is exactly how the real emergencies get missed.

Action:

Look at your open decisions right now. Which ones actually have a deadline or real consequence for waiting, and which ones just feel urgent because they've been sitting there making noise? Set the noisy ones aside. Give the real one 48 hours and make the call.

The Real Cost of Indecision

Here's the uncomfortable truth: that decision sitting on your desk isn't neutral. It's costing you revenue, headspace, team momentum, and opportunities that don't wait around for you to feel ready. I broke down exactly what indecision is quietly draining from your business, and the one question that cuts through the stall every time.

Business Strategist • Small Business • Since 2007 Are you tired of feeling like your business is running you? I take business owners from being overwhelmed, overworked, and undervalued to being strategic, productive, and profitable. Many business owners are too busy working in their business to work on their business. They get bogged down with wearing many hats, trying to grow their business, and deliver their product. I show business owners how to avoid the pitfalls, ignite a spark, and let their sparkle shine through.

Hey there Reader, Let's be honest: you're not burned out because your strategy is bad. You're burned out because you've been making every hard call by yourself, and nobody warned you that's the part that actually breaks people. Someone came up to me after a recent speaking event and said something that's been rattling around in my head ever since: "It's just really lonely being a business owner, isn't it?" I gave the polite nod in the moment and wish we had a few minutes to really dig in to...

Hey there Reader, True story: last month I made a business decision by flipping a coin. Heads, I take on the project. Tails, I pass. It landed on tails. I did not like that. So naturally, I did what any rational, emotionally regulated business owner would do. I flipped it again. Still tails. Flipped a third time out of pure spite. (Also tails. The universe was being extremely clear with me and I was choosing violence.) Here's what that little coin-flipping meltdown taught me. I already knew...

Hey there Reader, I have a confession. My client Danielle hired me to help her make a decision. Instead, I watched her build a 14 tab spreadsheet to avoid making one. She called it due diligence. I called it a very expensive form of hiding. Here's the thing about stuck decisions: they rarely stay stuck because the answer is hard to find. They stay stuck because finding the answer feels safer than living with it. Danielle already knew she needed to raise her rates. She just needed permission...
